The TW's dampening rod style front fork is literally 1930's technology.  This emulator kit converts the old dampening rod to a modern day shim stack style of valving.  A game changer for off-road riding.  Very easy to install and makes a world of difference.  Available with or without oil or springs.

Setup options and recommendations:

Comfort setting (up to 220 lb rider)- stock .5kg or .6kg spring with 5w fork oil .

Comfort setting (over 220 lb rider) - .7 kg spring with 5w fork oil .

Challenging terrain (up to 220 lb rider) - .6kg or .7kg spring with 5w fork oil.

Challenging terrain (over 220 lb rider) - .7kg spring with 10w fork oil.

Oil weights can be mixed equally to make an average weight.  ex.  mixing 5w and 10w will make a 7.5w.   Some even prefer to mix 10w and 15w to make 12.5 weight.

  • Lift the bike, remove the fork caps followed by the spring spacer, washer, then the spring. We use a suction device to extract the oil from the fork at this point if you are changing the oil. Compress the fork by lowering the bike until the forks bottom out.  Refill the fork with oil and bleed by plunging up and down several times.  Set the oil height with the fork empty and fully compressed to 150mm air gap above the oil.  Plunge up and down to bleed once again.  Double check the oil height.  Drop-in the emulator with the nut side down.  Drop-in the spring, then the washer.  The spring spacer will need to be shortened the exact height of the emulator body which should be about .680" to keep the spring preload at the recommended 6mm.  Reinstall fork cap and enjoy!
