Offset flywheel key advances ignition timing. Advancing ignition base timing offers advantages such as increased power, increased acceleration, and a more low-end torque. By igniting the fuel mixture slightly before top dead center (TDC), advanced timing allows for a more complete combustion and sustained pressure, optimizing the force on the piston for increased performance. Recommended for use with other engine mods such as free-flow exhaust and advance cam timing.

Remove left side engine cover to access flywheel. If you do not have a flywheel puller a neat trick is to use the rear axle as a puller since it shares the same threads. Remove flywheel key and replace with advance key. Reinstall flywheel while rotating the stater clutch gear clockwise to keep the clutch free. Once in place rotate the flywheel counter-clockwise until it seats on the flywheel key. Install flywheel bolt and torque to factory specs. Reinstall cover and replenish oil that is lost. It is a good idea to make a new top dead center mark on the flywheel since it has now moved.
