KLX230 manual idle adjustment screw - fix the high idle problem.
The KLX230 comes with an electronic variable idle stepper motor which can result in high and irregular idling. Override this feature with this idle adjustment screw which allows you to adjust the idle speed manually. This is a simple and effective fix for the KLX230’s notorious idle issues.
KLX230 Manual Idle Conversion
The installation is pretty straight forward. I have done it with the seat and fuel tank on, but it is easier with them removed. The stepper motor has two tamper proof torx screws securing it in place. Simply remove the screws and the motor. Do not unplug the motor as this may cause a check engine light. We recommend that you place the motor in the zip lock bag and ziptie it up out of the way. The cylinder shaped plunger of the new manual idle adjuster has a long slot down the side. This slot must align with the pin that protrudes out of the bore of the throttle body. Reassemble in reverse order. Adjust idle as desired with engine warm.
